The LIT Design Awards ™ was created to recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting implementers. We believe that lighting is both an art and a science, and it is one of the most important elements of design. The LIT Awards was envisioned to celebrate creativity and innovation in the fields of lighting products and applications.
LIT Lighting Design Awards is the sibling Award of SIT Furniture Design Award (SIT), International Design Awards (IDA), and European Product Design Awards ( ePDA) all focusing on Product Esthetic, Concepts & Enhancement, which have emerged as some of the most well-known Design Awards today.
The LIT Design Award is a program under the 3C Awards, a leading organization curating and promoting design across the globe. The company represents today’s diversity and innovation in Lighting Design, Furniture Design, Interior Design, and Architecture. The Lighting Product Design of the Year Award recognizes the efforts of talented lighting product designers who improve and perfect the quality of design and quality of light emitted by their designs.
The Lighting Product Design of the Year Winner will receive the LIT Awards Trophy as well as a copy of the Annual LIT Catalogue of Lighting Design and Implementation, distributed internationally. Additionally, the winning lighting product or design will be promoted in a newsletter to 100,000 design professionals and potential clients worldwide, receive coverage on our website throughout the year, and critical acclaim by our distinguished panel of judges.
The Lighting Design of the Year Award recognizes the people and practices striving towards excellence in lighting design implementation and application. The lighting director, architect, electrical engineer, interior designer, landscape architect, urban planner, etc., each creates the mood and ambiance of space with their lighting implementation. There would be no architectural, interior design, or landscape design achievements without the right lighting – which is the reason we want to recognize this essential part of the design process through the LIT Awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award has been introduced in 2018 to recognize the Lighting Designer / Lighting Product Designer and other professionals in the Lighting Industry, who’s contributed over their entire careers to the industry. Dedicated to professionals with a minimum of 40 years of experience in the industry, the Award is today the highest honor awarded in the lighting design field. There is no fee to nominate.

The Spotlight Prize has been introduced in 2020 to reward and put the “spotlight” on an organization, association, project, or initiative that carries out remarkable work for its community and has a major contribution to the Lighting Industry. There is no fee to nominate a designer.

Students and young designers are also encouraged to apply, for a chance to be awarded the title of Emerging Lighting Product Designer of the year This prize is awarded to the student who has demonstrated devotion to elevating the art of product lighting design.
You could receive the LIT trophy at an exclusive evening celebrating the winners, a cash prize of CHF 1,000.00 as well as the publication of your work in the LIT Annual Book. The promotion of your work will be sent in a newsletter to 100,000 design professionals and potential clients worldwide and you will enjoy year-long coverage on the LIT Design Awards website. Winners will also receive the certificate of achievement and winner’s seal to use online and in printed media.
Thanks to our partner the “Silhouette Awards (SA)“, the “Emerging Lighting Product designer of the Year” will receive 6 months of mentorship by one of the esteemed SA judge Mentors to enhance their skill set, progress their career ambitions, and add real value to the creativity of the industry, raising the bar for talent to steer and lead the industry in years to come.
Entries can be submitted as conceptual designs, in progress, or as completed projects. The only restriction is that entries or completed projects must be no more than 5 years old. Submissions can be made as a Professional or as a Student.
Winners are chosen based on a single project – not for a body of work.

The LIT Design Awards competition is open to anyone aged 18+ residing anywhere in the world. Professional entries will be judged against other professionals and student entries against other students.

The evaluation process for entries to the LIT Lighting Design Awards is based on various judging criteria that are constantly adapted to new technical, social, economic, and ecological requirements. These criteria are not comprehensive and not all criteria are applicable to each product. They simply provide an orientation framework and basis for judging, which is complemented by each individual juror’s expertise and socio-cultural background.
Each member of the Jury is passionately committed to providing a fair evaluation. Jury members are assigned categories based on their specific background and expertise. All projects are viewed and judged randomly and anonymously to ensure unbiased and fair judging.

The LIT Lighting Design Awards use a Scoring System between 10-100 points.
No Further Fees: Unlike some other design awards and competitions, there are no further fees for winning the award and everything listed in the winner’s benefits will be provided free of charge.
All entries are voted on by a grand jury panel composed of experienced and prominent academics, professionals, press members, entrepreneurs and key people from the lighting design industry.
